Trestle Creek Addition
This small modern home located on 20 acres outside of Cerrillos, NM needed an addition that improved functionality and provided added space for living. The addition included a two-car garage, a laundry room, a powder room fit underneath existing stairs, improved primary suite layout, a second story bathroom and a roof deck. These improvements were blended seamlessly with the existing structure to enhance the architecture and the usability of the home.
Interior Design
The interior of Trestle Creek Addition was designed to feel deeply connected to its high-desert surroundings — natural, simple, and timeless. The architecture focuses on honest materials and strong spatial clarity, where every element serves both aesthetic and functional purposes.
Exposed beams define the ceilings and bring warmth to the white plastered walls, creating a rhythm of light and shadow that changes throughout the day. The polished concrete floors offer durability and an earthy tone that complements the surrounding landscape, while their thermal mass helps regulate indoor temperature naturally.
The layout was planned to promote openness and continuity between the existing home and the new addition. The main living area combines the kitchen, dining, and lounge under one generous volume, encouraging a fluid daily experience. Carefully placed windows frame the landscape like living artwork, pulling views of mesas, desert vegetation, and the ever-changing sky into the heart of the home.
The kitchen acts as the social center — featuring handcrafted wood cabinetry, open shelving, and a long farmhouse table that doubles as a workspace. Above, the exposed beams and suspended lighting add a sense of height and craft. The bedrooms maintain a quieter atmosphere, with large corner windows that open to morning light and private outdoor views.
